University of San DiegoThe University of San Diego (USD) is a private Roman Catholic research university centrally located in the Linda Vista community of San Diego, CA.

USD is comprised of nine undergraduate and graduate schools with 79 programs, serving over 9,000 paralegals, graduate, and law students.

USD’s Child Advocacy Clinic, operated by the Children’s Advocacy Institute (CAI), works to improve the lives of children and is one of the nation’s premier academic, research and advocacy organizations.

If you study or work at USD and need reliable Child Care in central San Diego, CA, USD offers year-round full-time and part-time on-campus Child Care to students and faculty, as well as reputable resources for finding Child Care.

Child Care Assistance for Full-time students, Employees, and Teachers

The Manchester Family Child Development Center (MFCDC) is a beautiful 6,000 on-campus facility for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years old. Enrollment is available 2, 3, or 5 days per week between the conveniently extended hours of 7:15 am – 5:45 pm, although parents are encouraged to limit Child Care to eight hours a day. Children enrolled for half days must be picked up by 12:30 pm. The center’s multi-age classrooms are staffed by dedicated, qualified teachers who create a secure, enriching place for children. With the exception of two weeks in December/January, two weeks in July, all University holidays, and a few staff development and recognition events, MFCDC Child Care is available year-round Monday through Friday.

USD recommends several free infant and Child Care referral resources in San Diego. Including the California Child Care Resource & Referral Network, the YMCA Childcare Resource Service (which also offers subsidized Child Care for low-income families), and the San Diego Family Childcare Association.

Child Care Assistance for Students

Low-income student parents at USD may be eligible for state-funded financial assistance that can be used for Child Care, including CalWORKs and the San Diego County Centralized Eligibility List.
