Child Care Assistance for Full-time students, Employees, and Teachers
The on-campus Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is a full-time development program with age-appropriate curriculum across four age brackets: young infants (3-12 months), infants (11 months and walking to 24 months), toddlers (2 years) and preschoolers (3-5 years). The environment encourages children to initiate their own learning activities in an open-classroom format. For parents who are unable to pick children up by 5 pm, an ECEC after-hours program is available on weekdays from 5-6 pm for a limited number of children 18 months or older.
Mesa Child Development Center provides on-campus full or part-time care for children across three hands-on classrooms with morning or afternoon sessions. In the infant room (3 months to 2 years), the toddler classroom (2 -3 years) and mixed-aged preschool classrooms (3 -5 years and potty trained).
To connect with and hire on-campus babysitters, the UC San Diego Babysitting Resource allows parents to connect with UCSD students available for Child Care services. Please note that the babysitters are employed directly by the parents, and USCD does not screen babysitters.
Child Care Assistance for Students
UCSD students may qualify for the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Education. These grants provide affordable access to on-campus Child Care at ECEC.
Academic Student Employees, Graduate Student Researchers, and Fellow/Trainees may receive reimbursements for some Child Care expenses for children up to 12 years old through a program called Article 4 of the collective bargaining agreement with the United Auto Workers.
Graduate students appointed to work as Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) for at least 25 percent time may be eligible to be reimbursed for qualifying childcare expenses for non-school age children.
The UCSD Graduate Student Fellow/Trainee Child Care Reimbursement Program extends reimbursement benefits to eligible graduate students with qualifying childcare expenses at a maximum of $1,100 per quarter.
